Never-Changing, 2019

Poetics of landscape never changing, and ever-changing. This series was born while printing an artist book with etchings made on site along the southern coast of Iceland, during the summer of 2019. The etchings themselves layer both visual and written inscriptions of grief due to drastic changes in the climate levels in the last century alone, and our lack of environmental response. These monotypes arrived through curiosity in the printmaking process, not fully wiping the etched surface before printing. “Never-Changing” communicates a tension of time— printing a unique moment of action within the printmaking process, while having the ability to produce multiple; combining fragments of image and written word about the shifting land, now frozen as still print.
